Steve Trudell and several other researchers have recently released a study of Tricholoma species in BC and the US Pacific Northwest. Steve has made the paper available to SVIMS members. You can download/view the pdf by clicking on the cover.
This is an imporant study. Many of the Trichs that we thought were in this area have turned out not to be the same species as the European names they were first given.
Lives of Fungi – A Natural History of our Planet’s Decomposers is a new book by Britt Bunyard, the Editor-In-Chief of the journal FUNGI. He will give us a preview and tell us some of the amazing stories. He has visited us in Victoria before and you can expect something special.
SVIMS is a member of The North American Mycological Association (NAMA), the collective that unites the mycological societies on this continent. Four to six times a year NAMA publishes its newsletter, the Mycophile, and makes it available to members of all supporting clubs. The January-March issue was recently released. SVIMS Annual General Meeting will start at 6:45 pm, followed by the speaker of the month, Paul Kroeger.
He will speak about the early years of Vancouver Mycological Society and the VMS Manning Fungi Survey. Judging by his previous talks he can also be counted on for some entertaining asides. See poster below.
