The South Vancouver Island Mycological Society (SVIMS) is a registered, nonprofit, member funded Society.  We consist of professional and amateur mycologists dedicated to the education, study, research, conservation, and advocacy of all aspects of fungi.

Regular Events

Monthly Meetings:

1st Thursday of the month:  a professional presentation, often given by Mycologists from that respective field of academia.

No meetings: January, June, July & August.

Forays:

Forays include the presenter, our club’s Mycologist(s) &/or mushroom experts. weather dependent

Forays can be twice a month, especially when we are called upon to provide a mushroom survey for conservation purposes.

Workshops:

Throughout the year. 

Topics:  cultivation, mushroom identification, iNAT, vouchering/mycoblitz, microscopy, BC Parks mushroom surveys etc. 

 

Webinars:

January to June: additional webinars through NAMYCO.org allowing us to access academic level, mycological topics, globally.
